Business Development Director
Jess studied Classics at Oxford and then went out to China to teach English. Originally intended as a short trip, it turned into an extended stay, and a small group set up an English Language school in China’s remotest region – Xinjiang. This is where East meets West on the Silk Road. After a few years ‘in the desert’, she returned to the UK and digested some of her experiences, enrolling in an MA in Chinese Studies at SOAS.
Jess joined i-graduate in 2008 and works on bespoke research projects and focussing on market research for education stakeholders. She has implemented the Student Barometer and other large-scale student surveys in over 10 countries.
She has worked on studies on prospective students, alumni, education agents and a range of stakeholders. This includes quantitative and qualitative research methods.
Recent projects include a study of graduate outcomes for the Open University, and research for a University exploring options for a branch campus in Malaysia. She implemented in 2015 the first census of pathways students in the UK with the Big 5 private foundation providers to determine the scale and importance of the sector and provide market share intelligence.
She develops research briefs, manages projects and provides end-insight and reporting for stakeholders in the education sector.
Jess likes travel and wilderness, and loves to get out walking and cycling. Jess has no official position in the office table tennis league, but is pretty sure she could thrash Jamie, Joe and any others.
